Michael's Story
Michael Slaughter is a born and raised Texan who has held many roles across Collin County. Believing in service before self has been a core belief that Michael has exhibited during his over 20 years in Collin County Pct. 2. Read below to learn more about the different chapters of Michael's career.

Early Life: Michael met the love of his life and now wife, Leah, when they were just kids in middle school. Their life has been a true blessing that allowed them to start their real estate investment company at the age of just 19. In 2010, Michael and Leah fostered and then adopted their first child from CPS. A couple of years later they went back and adopted two more children. Then, just a few years ago they adopted their fourth and youngest child, who you will most definitely see on the campaign trail with Michael!

Law Enforcement: Michael has donated his time as a Reserve Law Enforcement Officer for Collin County for over a decade, where he rose to the rank of Lieutenant and was put in command of the Reserve Unit. He is regularly called to duty to help supplement warrant and administrative functions. He is also on call for assistance during emergencies that may arise in the county.

Area Service: During the time that Michael lived in the City of Sachse he served and assisted with multiple boards and commissions including the Animal Shelter board and Planning and Zoning Commission. Also, he served as a Commissioner for the Parker Parks and Rec Commission prior to his time of service on Parker City Council. Concurrently, he also served as Vice-President of his HOA in Parker for 2 terms while making multiple changes to better the neighborhood.

Parker City Councilman: Michael was elected to Parker City Council and spent his first term focused on keeping taxes low, supporting law enforcement, providing his area with the means and plan to update infrastructure, and making sure that constituents were kept informed of all decisions made by council members. It is important to provide the best governmental services to its citizens, while keeping taxes/expenses to residents low.

Parker Mayor Pro-Tem: During the end of Michael's first term on Parker City Council, he was elected Mayor Pro-Tem of the city. He served in this position until the end of his second term. Many times, this led to Michael presiding over committees/issues, working hand-in-hand with the Mayor, and acting as a liaison between the community and city hall. Michael's mission was to always be accessible to the community and spent countless hours speaking to residents and working to resolve their issues.

Business Owner: Michael has owned and operated numerous successful companies in Collin County since 2006. Many of these companies revolve around Michael's experience as a real estate broker, investor, and contractor in the DFW area. This business acumen gives him a very unique understanding of expenses and budgets.
