Terms of Service and Use
Last updated: 9.30.2026
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. BY ACCESSING OR USING THIS WEBSITE, YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, PLEASE STOP USING THE WEBSITE.
1. Website Operator and Scope
These Terms of Service and Use (“Terms”) apply to your access to and use of www.michaelslaughter.com and related online offerings operated by Michael Slaughter for Collin County Commissioner, Pct. 2 that link to these Terms (collectively, the “Website”). “Campaign,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Michael Slaughter for Collin County Commissioner, Pct. 2.
The Website provides Campaign information, updates, opportunities to participate, and access to contribution and event services. It is a campaign-operated website and is not an official Collin County government website. Contacting the Campaign through the Website does not substitute for filing an official request, application, complaint, or other document with a government agency.
2. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will publish the revised Terms on the Website and update the date above. We may also provide notice by email or a Website notice when appropriate or required. Unless stated otherwise, revisions apply prospectively when posted, subject to any notice or consent requirements under applicable law. Your continued use after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
3. Privacy and Communications
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, share, and retain information. Please review the Privacy Policy available on the Website along with these Terms.
Using the Website or submitting a general inquiry does not, by itself, enroll you in recurring text messages. Email and text subscriptions are governed by the choices and disclosures presented when you sign up. You may unsubscribe from Campaign emails through the unsubscribe link in an email or by contacting us.
4. SMS and MMS Terms and Conditions
Program Description
Michael Slaughter for Collin County Commissioner, Pct. 2 offers a text messaging program for people who opt in. Messages may include Campaign news, community and event updates, volunteer opportunities, fundraising requests, reminders, and responses to your inquiries, consistent with the program described at signup.
Consent and Enrollment
By affirmatively opting in, you agree to receive recurring SMS or MMS messages from the Campaign at the mobile number you provide, including messages sent using automated messaging technology where used and lawfully permitted. You must be authorized to use the number and provide accurate enrollment information.
Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of making a contribution, purchasing anything, or using the Website. Consent applies to the Campaign program you select and does not authorize unrelated organizations to send you messages.
Message Frequency and Charges
Message frequency varies based on Campaign activity and your interactions with us. Message and data rates may apply under your wireless plan. Contact your carrier with questions about those charges.
How to Opt Out
Reply STOP to a Campaign text message to unsubscribe. You may also communicate a clear request to stop messages by emailing info@michaelslaughter.com or calling 469.922.4427. We will honor other reasonable methods of withdrawing consent as required by applicable law.
You may receive a final message confirming your opt-out. After opting out, you will not receive further program messages unless you affirmatively opt in again, except for communications permitted or required by law. Opting out of texts does not automatically unsubscribe you from email updates.
Help and Support
Reply HELP to a Campaign text message for assistance, email info@michaelslaughter.com, or call 469.922.4427.
Delivery and Device Requirements
You need a compatible device and active wireless service to receive messages. Availability and delivery depend on your device, carrier, network, and other factors outside our control. MMS content may not display on all devices. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Do not rely on Campaign text messages for emergencies or time-sensitive government services.
If your number changes or is reassigned, please opt out using the old number when possible and notify us so we can update our records. Do not enroll a number belonging to someone else without authorization.
Text Messaging Privacy
Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be sold or shared with third parties for their own use. Information may be provided to service providers solely as needed to operate the Campaign's messaging program, subject to applicable requirements.
We may retain your mobile number, consent records, and message information to administer the program, respond to requests, document consent and opt-outs, and comply with applicable obligations. Legally required disclosures remain subject to applicable law. See the Website Privacy Policy for additional information.
Program Changes
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the messaging program, subject to applicable notice and consent requirements. A material change in the purpose or scope of messages may require renewed consent. Changes to these Terms do not override an opt-out or create consent that you have not provided.
5. Contributions and Anedot
Online contributions are processed through Anedot. Your use of Anedot is also subject to its applicable terms, privacy policies, and the disclosures presented during the contribution process.
The Campaign records donor names, addresses, and employers. Contribution amounts, dates, and related transaction records are maintained as needed for accounting and legally required reporting. The Campaign does not store donors' full credit card numbers or bank account details.
By submitting a contribution, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you satisfy the eligibility requirements disclosed during the contribution process and imposed by applicable law. Contributions are subject to applicable Texas campaign-finance requirements. Information included in required campaign-finance reports may become publicly available through the appropriate filing authority.
Please review the amount and any recurring-contribution selection before submitting. If you authorize recurring contributions, review Anedot's available account controls and transaction disclosures for how to manage or cancel future payments. Cancellation of future payments does not automatically refund contributions already processed.
For questions about an erroneous contribution, a recurring payment, or a refund request, contact info@michaelslaughter.com or 469.922.4427. Refunds and corrections are handled subject to applicable law and the relevant processing terms. We may reject or return a contribution when required or appropriate to comply with applicable requirements.
6. Permitted Use and Website Ownership
The Website's text, graphics, photographs, videos, logos, and other materials are owned by the Campaign or used with permission from their respective owners, except where otherwise identified. Applicable copyright, trademark, and other rights remain with their owners.
You may access the Website for lawful informational purposes and share links to publicly available pages. Campaign materials expressly provided for sharing may be shared in accordance with their accompanying instructions. These Terms do not restrict uses permitted by applicable law, including applicable fair-use rights.
Except as permitted by law or expressly authorized, you may not reproduce, alter, distribute, sell, or exploit Website materials in a way that infringes rights, falsely implies Campaign endorsement, or misrepresents their source. Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners.
7. Prohibited Conduct

-
Use the Website for unlawful, fraudulent, harassing, threatening, or abusive activity.
-
Impersonate someone, misrepresent your affiliation, or submit false information.

8. User Submissions and Feedback
If the Website permits you to submit comments, photographs, stories, or other materials, you remain responsible for your submissions and must have the rights needed to provide them. Do not submit unlawful, infringing, misleading, threatening, or privacy-invasive content.
You retain ownership of your original submissions. By submitting material for public posting or Campaign use, you grant the Campaign a nonexclusive, royalty-free permission to reproduce, format, display, and distribute it for the purpose for which you submitted it. We will seek additional permission where appropriate for a materially different use or use of your likeness.
A private inquiry, volunteer form, or other private communication is not automatically a grant of permission to publicly use your name, image, or message in Campaign advertising. Personal information is handled under the Privacy Policy.
You may voluntarily provide suggestions about the Website or Campaign. We may consider and use those suggestions without an obligation to provide compensation, subject to applicable rights and privacy obligations. Do not submit confidential third-party information.
We may moderate or remove public submissions. We do not guarantee that all submissions will be reviewed, published, or answered.
9. Copyright Concerns
If you believe Website content infringes your copyright, contact info@michaelslaughter.com. Identify the copyrighted work, the specific Website material or URL at issue, your contact details, and the basis for your concern. We may request additional information and review or remove content as appropriate.
This contact process does not represent that the Campaign has registered a designated agent with the U.S. Copyright Office or that any particular statutory safe harbor applies.
10. Third-Party Websites, Content, and Services
The Website may include links, embedded content, event registrations, payment services, or information supplied by third parties. Third-party services have their own terms and policies, and we do not control their availability, security, or practices.
A link or reference does not by itself constitute endorsement. Any expressly stated Campaign endorsement stands on its own. Your transactions and dealings with a third party are governed by the applicable terms between you and that provider.
11. Information and Availability
We aim to provide useful and accurate information, but Website content may change or contain errors. Event details, links, and availability may be updated. Please contact us if you identify an error or need confirmation.
Website information is for general informational purposes and does not constitute individualized legal, financial, tax, or other professional advice. References to government processes do not replace information or instructions from the responsible government agency.
We may update, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Website. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access or that the Website will be free of errors or harmful components.
12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Website and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or noninfringement.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Campaign and its representatives will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Website.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability, rights, or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. These Website disclaimers do not override legally required contribution refunds or other nonwaivable obligations.
13. Responsibility for Misuse
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Campaign and its representatives against third-party claims and reasonable related costs arising from your unlawful use of the Website, infringement of another person's rights through your submissions, or material violation of these Terms. This provision does not require you to indemnify us for our own unlawful conduct.
We will provide reasonable notice of a claim for which we seek indemnification and allow appropriate participation in its defense. No settlement may impose an admission or nonmonetary obligation on you without your consent.
14. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by Texas law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where federal law or another mandatory applicable law controls.
Subject to applicable jurisdiction and mandatory legal requirements, disputes concerning these Terms or use of the Website will be brought in a state court located in Collin County, Texas, or a federal court with jurisdiction over Collin County, Texas.
These Terms do not require mandatory arbitration and do not waive a jury trial or participation in a class action where otherwise available under applicable law.
15. General Provisions
If a provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain effective to the extent permitted by law. A failure to enforce a provision does not waive the right to enforce it later.
These Terms govern use of the Website. Additional terms disclosed for a specific third-party service or transaction may apply to that service or transaction. These Terms do not override the Privacy Policy's restrictions on handling information or separately required messaging consent.
Section headings are for convenience. You may stop using the Website at any time.
